Puckles Family Bakehouse is a new venture from the Plarre family – one of Australia’s longest serving baking families. The Plarres established themselves as quality Australian bakers in 1911 under the name ‘Plarre’s Cakes’ in Victoria. They are also the force behind the award-winning Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses in Victoria, which continues to grow and build on its strong success. Alongside Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses, the Plarres are building this new Australian made and Australian owned business in Queensland, led by Mike and Steve Plarre.
The Puckles name
Mike and Steve’s great-grandfather opened his first bakery in Puckle Street, in Victoria, as one of thousands of immigrants. They named Puckles after the street as a tribute to his life and the legacy he left for their family. Puckle Street was a landmark in their family’s history and the beginning of a love affair of sorts with baking and with life in Australia.

Environment
Sustaining generations
We are proud to be an Australian owned family business.
We believe that environmental responsibility and sustainable business growth shouldn’t be optional extras. From packaging, to water and energy efficient store design, we look for opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint. We also try to encourage awareness of how we can each improve our world. Sustaining generations takes more than quality products and services. It takes personal responsibility, innovation and a willingness to think of new ways to do business.
We’ve been around for more than 100 years and we’d like to be around for another 100. Together we can create a sustainable future for our communities and families.
